Trollbeads was facing an important decision. Their contract for the SalesForce solution was nearing its end, and renewing it would require starting from scratch—not exactly a smooth process! Some of the company’s international distributors had already switched to Shopify with great success, and since Shopify had just launched Shopify Markets, Trollbeads had no doubt: A Plus solution with Shopify Markets could encompass the entire global setup in a much more cost-effective and user-friendly manner.

The company of the same name is a family business that has been an essential part of customers' personal stories since 1976. Trollbeads is headquartered in Copenhagen, and a vast distributor network sells these exquisite, handcrafted beads in the global market.

Expensive and cumbersome

The setup for Trollbeads is quite unique. Many distributors mean a range of solutions. Some choose to operate independently, while others prefer to be under one umbrella for automatic content and feature updates. However, onboarding new distributors in the old system was difficult. Salesforce had a steep learning curve.

Upon hearing Shopify had launched Shopify Markets with multi-language and multi-currency options, Trollbeads turned to Shopify and saw potential. Shopify recommended three agencies for the task: one in the UK, one in the Netherlands, and us.

Custom development, excellent customer service, and significant savings

Firstly, Shopify is significantly cheaper than Salesforce, and it also saves considerable amounts on development hours because the company can now independently develop and create content. Among other things, Trollbeads has received:

Trollbeads has implemented a Plus solution with Shopify Markets, which covers nine distributors and 12 markets. The project was a collaboration because Trollbeads has significant capabilities in content setup and code development. After we guided them in selecting the right theme, they managed much of the process themselves.

Advanced Wishlist and a Virtual Jewelry Box

We specially developed two features that resonate deeply with Trollbeads' essence: An advanced wishlist and a jewelry box! The wishlist enables visitors to save and share their wishes with family and friends, while the jewelry box allows users to create a virtual jewelry box that keeps track of which beads, etc., the collection includes, and note when they were bought, gifted, by whom, and for what occasion. The jewelry box can also be shared via social media and email.

Content Scheduling

We have also enabled content scheduling in sections, allowing a set publication date. This is especially useful if a new collection needs to be launched at a specific time, avoiding the need to manually press 'publish' across all markets.

The right products for the right customers

With the switch to Shopify, Trollbeads also faced a logical transition to Klaviyo, as Klaviyo fully integrates with and leverages data from Shopify. It certainly helped that we have a Klaviyo expert in-house! Through the integration of Klaviyo, Trollbeads has gained transparency in their data, providing them the ability to personalize the content in their communication with customers.
