Automate Your Workflows with Shopify Flow

Shopify Flow is a powerful automation tool that helps your store streamline daily processes.

With Shopify Flow, you can create rules and actions that automatically execute based on specific conditions and events. For example, Flow can be used to automate emails, update inventory levels, or change order status.

In Flow, you work with two key elements: Triggers and Conditions.

Triggers are the events that start a flow. This can be anything from a new order to a product falling below a certain stock level. Conditions are the criteria that determine whether a specific action should be taken. For instance, a condition could be that if a product's stock level drops below a certain value, then the system should send an alert.

These elements give you full control over your workflows, meaning you can automate complex processes without technical knowledge.

Example: Keep Track of Inventory

Many businesses want to ensure their most popular products never run out. A typical scenario could be: "If product X has fewer than Y units in stock, send me a notification."

There are several apps that can solve this, but they often require you to manually update product lists and pay a monthly fee for the service. With Shopify Flow, you can instead set up an automated solution that is free and fully integrated into your Shopify store.

Here is a simple example of a standard Shopify flow that can monitor your inventory. This flow triggers when a product variant is sold. If the stock level after the sale is below x, an automatic email is sent to the responsible person.

But what if you want more control? Maybe you have products with varying demand, and you need to set different minimum quantities for each product variant. The solution is to use a metafield on each variant where you specify your specific minimum quantity.

We've created an example here:

This flow is smart because you can exactly set different minimum quantities per variant.

You can download the flow here

Here's how:

  1. Create a metafield on your product variants named "minimum quantity".
  2. Download the customized flow.
  3. Adjust the email recipient to the responsible person.
  4. Complete the minimum quantity field for the variants you wish to monitor.
  5. Sit back and let Shopify Flow handle the rest.

Questions?

What if I would prefer to configure minimum quantities at the product level instead of the variant level? In that case, you can use another flow specifically designed to monitor entire products instead of individual variants.
