Automate Your Workflows with Shopify Flow

Shopify Flow is a robust automation tool designed to streamline your store’s everyday processes.

With Shopify Flow, you can establish rules and actions that are automatically triggered based on specific conditions and events. For example, Flow can help automate email notifications, update stock inventories, or modify order statuses.

There are two key components within Flow: Triggers and Conditions.

Triggers are the events that initiate a flow. This could range from receiving a new order to detecting when product stock falls below a certain threshold. Conditions are the parameters that decide whether a specific action should occur. For instance, a condition might be setting an alert when a product’s stock dips below a predefined level.

These components empower you with comprehensive control over your workflows, allowing you to automate even the most intricate processes without needing technical expertise.

Many businesses aim to prevent their top-selling products from running out of stock. A typical scenario might be: "Alert me if product X has fewer than Y units remaining in stock."

While various apps can handle this, they often necessitate manual updates to product lists and incur monthly fees. Shopify Flow offers a free, integrated solution that automates this process within your Shopify store.

Here’s a basic example of a standard Shopify flow that monitors your inventory. This flow activates when a product variant's stock changes. If the stock level after a sale drops below x, an automated email is sent to the concerned person.

But what if you need more customization? Perhaps some products have varying levels of demand, necessitating diverse minimum quantities for each variant. The solution is to use a metafield for each variant to define your minimum quantity.

Here is an example we put together:

This flow is particularly advantageous as it allows for setting minimum quantities uniquely per variant.

Here are the steps:

  1. Develop a metafield named “minimum quantity” on your product variants.
  2. Download the tailored flow.
  3. Update the email recipient to the respective point of contact.
  4. Populate the minimum quantity field for variants you want to monitor.
  5. Relax and let Shopify Flow handle it from there.

Questions?

Prefer to set minimum quantities at the product level rather than the variant level? You can utilize a different flow designed to monitor entire products.
