From WooCommerce to Shopify – both online and in physical stores
– Lauren Blair Klarskov, E-commerce & B2B Manager, Momkind
Momkind is the go-to place for most people expecting a child or who have just given birth. With a large traffic-generating article database and a vibrant community, Momkind is on a major growth journey, and their old WooCommerce solution could no longer keep up. However, Shopify can, offering full standard integration with Traede, where Momkind manages their inventory and collections. In addition, Shopify's point-of-sale system, Shopify POS, makes the webshop and physical stores work seamlessly together.
Who is
Momkind
Momkind is an honest, open-minded, and inclusive universe for expecting and new mothers. By breaking down taboos and highlighting mothers' needs, the mission is to ensure mothers' well-being. Momkind provides the essentials that every pregnant, postpartum, and nursing mother needs—because all products are developed, tested, and approved by their passionate community of mothers. Besides Momkind's innovative product range, it also serves as a gateway for new and expecting mothers to find answers and useful information on their questions and challenges.
Momkind was limited by WooCommerce, which is best suited for smaller businesses and start-ups. The system can handle only a certain number of visits, is not designed for high-volume sales, and does not work well with many integrations. Additionally, you have to purchase extra space, which is not the case with Shopify.
From a user interface perspective, Momkind has a simple structure, so we were able to use a standard theme. We have custom-developed a due date calculator and redesigned the entire URL structure, ensuring that the traffic generated by the many articles remains in the correct hierarchy. We have also included quick-buy functionality directly on all blog posts, allowing the customer to avoid jumping back and forth between products and articles—this creates a much better user experience and more sales. Additionally, Momkind has received:
Momkind has opened their first physical store, and with Shopify's own payment terminal, Shopify POS, we've ensured that the webshop and store are seamlessly integrated. Shopify POS runs on an iPad and is sleek, lightweight, and user-friendly for store staff to operate. The system works as a unified engine: All data is consolidated, prices are consistent, there is an overview of inventory, and statistics can be drawn from both the webshop and the physical store. Customer data and purchase history appear on the screen with a single click. This makes exchange situations much easier and enhances the user experience.
