MobilePay and Shopify

You can easily offer your customers the option to pay with MobilePay in your Shopify webshop.

Other payment gateways also offer MobilePay - but we hear many have challenges with this. The problem is that not all payment gateways have created a fully functional integration with Shopify. This means that you will need to manually log in to the payment gateway to perform tasks such as capture, cancel, and refund. It's not ideal and allows many opportunities for errors.

Quickpay has a great integration with Shopify and in theory, you never need to log in to the payment gateway. However, I recommend that you regularly (depending on volume) log in and check that everything is okay.

How to Make MobilePay Work Perfectly in Shopify

With Shopify, there are two ways to offer payments:

  1. In a payment window
  2. Directly on the payment page in Shopify

Receive MobilePay in a Payment Window

This is clearly the easiest solution to set up and most customers today are used to being "redirected" to a payment window.

You activate MobilePay directly in your Quickpay Manager - it couldn't be easier!

Always make a test purchase to ensure it works as you expect.

Receive MobilePay Directly on the Payment Page in Shopify

You can also accept payments directly on the payment page in Shopify. Some think this provides a better experience for the customer - but I haven't seen documentation for this.

If the customer chooses MobilePay, they will still be "redirected" to MobilePay - but now it's direct, and especially on mobile, it provides a really good experience.

To achieve this, you must follow Quickpay's guide here: mobilepay directly on Shopify's payment page

Remember to make a test purchase to ensure it works as you expect.

Shopify and MobilePay in Daily Use

With one of the above setups, MobilePay will function just like a payment has been made with a card such as Dankort, VISA, or Mastercard.

In Shopify, you can perform Capture, Cancel, and refund, and it will work perfectly.

Refund MobilePay in Shopify

If you issue a refund on MobilePay, it will be credited to the payment card the customer has on their MobilePay account. This means the customer cannot see the refund in MobilePay but must check their online bank and the account linked to the card.

Payment Gateway "Hygiene"

In general, you should regularly check your payment gateway. I have seen many examples where something went wrong and there is a payment or refund that hasn't gone through.

For example, check your payment gateway every Friday afternoon when there are typically the fewest open orders. This way, you will catch any errors and prevent them from escalating into problems.
